This trip was everything promised and then some. Gina was an amazing tour guide and the chocolate cake was delicious. For dog/animal lovers, this place is a must visit. I would book again without hesitation.
I feel mixed over this one, but our 9 year old son loved it and it was one of his holiday highlights. A minibus collected a number of families from Tromso town, and took us directly to the farm. Upon arrival, you're asked to change into wellies and waterproof trousers and jacket. You're then taken into a room where the children help to prepare the puppy food. They're given gloves and are asked to break up the mushed meat - they weren't so keen on this. The kids then take the food out to feed the young puppies in the pens. The kids loved that bit. We then took 3 separate groups of puppies of different ages out into the tundra to do 3 separate activities - that explains the need for the waterproofs. Everyone was given treats for the puppies so that we could all be involved in the training activities. Training including calling the puppies so they come to you, playing hide and seek, and trying to get the older pups to run through water. We were also encouraged to hold 2 week old pups as this helps them become used to people. A very nice lunch was provided. A shop is onsite but you weren't pushed to buy anything, in fact, when we wanted to buy something we had to find someone to take the money. Waterproofs returned, we were taken back to Tromso. The reason I feel mixed - 300 huskies, chained up all day, and are only taken out occasionally through the summer. The reason, I'm assured, is that the huskies would overheat if they're run through the summer. They rest through the summer and are exercised through the autumn ready for the winter. This is when they work daily. Overall, a good half day out.
