I’ve never seen water this blue!! Get ready for a workout!! It’s is all well worth it. You don’t get to swim in the actual lagoon as it is in the National Park and they need to preserve it. You do however get to swim in a different part of the river that is accessible to all

Worthy tour, good guide, wonderful lunch. Although the blue river was not as blue as in the photo. Attention ! This is the only place in the dry season in this area, where the recommendation to use a mosquito repellent was justified !

The hike far exceeded our expectations and the view was breathtaking - highly recommend the tour with Denny at Red Lava Tours through Viator!

Excellent service and tour. The Rio Celeste was full azur on that day. The lunch was very good. Recommanded.

This review has nothing to do with the guide, he was really nice, however, this tour was wholly dependent on there not being rain. It poured the entire night before and poured all morning leading up to the trip. When I showed up for the tour, I asked if we would still see the waterfall as it was meant to be seen, and was told that they had called and all seemed well on the other side of the mountain. When we got to the other side of the mountain, it was pouring and looked like it had been all night. The whole point of the tour was to see the beautiful blue water...but it was brown because of all the rain. On top of that, the tour was ended basically upon arriving and seeing the brown water, but not after ruining all of our clothes and shoes, and leaving us soaking wet for a miserable 2 hour drive home. The tour company should have offered a different tour for the day, or at least explained the situation so that I could have made other plans. This is what they do, they should have known the outcome of all the rain, in fact, they mention something about it on their site that they will reschedule if there is rain. This was my last day in Costa Rica, and I spent it soaking wet, muddy, crammed in the back of a van for 4 hours, to see 20 minutes of brown water. What a wasted and disappointing day. I would not book a tour with Viator again.

The tour guides were amazing, funny, and smart. They pointed out all the little things people just walked by but are so important to the ecology of Costa Rica

Nino, our van driver, was great. He stopped to show us all the different birds, sloths, and monkeys that he could find. We had a wonderful lunch with a family at their local restaurant along the way, then went for a swim in the nearby river. It was fun to share the local culture and see one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the area!

The driver we had to and from the park was fabulous and worked hard to spot wildlife for us to see. When he did spot something, such as a sloth and toucans, he'd pull over so we could get out and take pictures. Fortunately one of the tour participants spoke Spanish quite well and was able to translate for the group since the driver didn't speak a word of English and the rest of the tour group only spoke English. The drive was the best part of the day so in the future I'd recommend an English speaking driver for the English tours. The only wildlife we saw this day was on the drive, which we all greatly enjoyed and recognize that wildlife cannot be guaranteed. On the way back to La Fortuna we also stopped at an Indigenous centre where a local elder gave us a demonstration and explanation of the crafts and their significance. The tour itself was fine. The guide's English wasn't bad much better than my Spanish, but not great. Lunch was delicious and very generous. When the guide suggests renting boots for the hike, believe him. There was so much mud on the trail that it ruined the day. We had to go quite slowly because of the quantity and depth of the mud more mud than I could have ever imagined. Otherwise, I found the hike to be on the easy side it is not a long distance hike and there were only a couple of steep inclines but some of the people who are not in great shape found it very difficult.
