AMAZING, tour guide was terrific, driver was great too. Well worth the fee and I would highly recommend it!
Alejandro, our guide is a very knowledgeable about each destination...his English is good and easy to understand...breakfast and lunch were very tasty...Carlos, the driver made us feel safe with the way he’s driving...Highly Recommended...
If you're in San Jose and want to see a bit more of Costa Rica, this is a great option. We spent the bulk of our time at a wildlife preserve that rescues animals from the illegal pet trade, and happens to be in an area with multiple scenic waterfalls. No matter how hard we tried to stump our tour guide on history or any other subject, he had everything covered. As with all other small-group tours, you'll be in a pretty uncomfortable minivan-minibus for several hours over the course of a full day, and all of the sights you'll see are outdoors. If you plan appropriately you'll be happy.
Lee, the guide/driver was very knowledgeable and interesting with many facts about Costa Rica and with only us 2 on the trip it was like a private tour !! La Paz Gardens was a spectacular highlight of the day.
You’re picked up by the bus at your hotel at an assigned time. Our guide Kenny and driver Enrique made the first hour to the coffee plantation informative and fun with information about many aspects of Costa Rica and its culture. This portion of trip is interactive so it was helpful to drink some coffee before getting picked up. Also note that the first thing you do at the Doka Coffee Plantation is a buffet-style traditional Costa Rican breakfast and a variety of coffees, so you don’t have to eat before you head out for the day. At Doka you could visit their butterfly garden before starting a tour of the facility. The tour told us about how coffee is made from the plant to the product. There was also a very nice gift shop that we were given time to shop. Along the road to the La Paz waterfalls you stop at a small store where you can try the fresh fruits of the area, local wines, and you can do some more shopping and use the restrooms. When you get to the La Paz resort, you first tour the gardens and animal enclosures. This includes hummingbirds, an aviary, a butterfly garden, and mammal exhibits where all of the animals have been rescued. It was great to get a sense of the species that live in Costa Rica and the rainforests. Before continuing the tour, you get an amazing buffet lunch at the resort restaurant. It is good to keep in mind that after lunch you will be doing a lot of walking, especially up and down stairs, so try not to overfill yourself (but you might eat too much anyways because it’s so good!). The waterfalls were exceptional! They are more than worth all the stairs you have to go up and down, so make sure you take the time to admire all of them. It is a good idea to bring a rain jacket or poncho with you in case of rain. Due to the full day itinerary the drive back into the city often coincides with rush hour and can take upwards of four hours. Our driver was excellent and our guide was fun, but it should be planned for.
Very good day trip with La Paz waterfalls being a highlight. The Hummingbird Garden and Butterfly Observatory stop was an unexpectedly enjoyable experience. All in all, a day well spent.
Great experience with even greater pictures to show forth. We were unable to travel to the volcanic area due to cloudy weather but it definitely didn't affect the trip. Loved it. Worth the money!1
This tour was amazing! Mario, our guide - very knowledgable and entertaining person, a really really GREAT person. I found out many things about Costa Rica during this day. These were the best spent money in my life. I still cannot believe how beautiful this day was. It can be a great experience both for people having limited time in Costa Rica but also to those who stay longer. The meals were also very good, the visit to coffee plantation - very eye opening in terms of something we consume on a daily basis. La Paz Waterfall - breathtaking scenary - and I feel in love with Toucans. I feel that the words I am using in this description express less than the happiness I felt during this tour : I will definitely never forget it.
What a wonderful day trip. Our guide, Martin, was so great. He was very knowledgeable about Costa Rica and all the places we stopped along the way. He was also very interactive with all the tour guests. The food and tour at Daka was fantastic. Breakfast was buffet style with eggs, plantains, rice, fruit and drinks, and of course, great coffee. The tour at La Paz was also really fun. Lunch was delicious and was a buffet of all sorts of food, even my picky-eater son found plenty to eat. Overall, an excellent experience. I would highly recommend and request Martin as your guide if possible, he made it better than we could have imagined!
Nice tour, a bit rushed but I got to see lots. I highly recommend it!
What a great trip. The waterfalls were amazing and the guide was kind. I have a bad knee and he waited for me to make sure I was okay. What an awesome experience.
