Arrived at the pickup point to be told that we could not go to Positano due to a landslide and would instead go to Sorrento. We booked this trip on the understanding that we would visit Pompeii first, move on to Positano (in this case Sorrento) and then do the Amalfi drive with an hour stop off - we presumed in Amalfi. Instead we went to Sorrento first which was nice but it felt that there was too much time spent here. We did not arrive in Pompeii until late afternoon - the tour guide at Pompeii Brunella was fantastic. However due to being rushed by the Walks tour guide we did not have any opportunity to go to the Pompeii souviner shop this was very disappointing. After leaving the exit of Pompeii guests asked if they could buy something from the market stalls - probably because they couldn't enter the Pompeii shop. They were told to 'be quick' and this was very off putting. We did not go anywhere near Amalfi, and the stop off was actually at a petrol station on the way back to Rome for 15 minutes!
Our guide was very informative, and also gave us time to relax on the bus. Was extremely helpful and made sure everyone had chance to ask for advise at the end of the tour. A wonderful day, with delightful sights and we learned a lot.
Although we couldn’t make to Positano due to rock slides that closed some roads, they added sorrento to the agenda and the entire day was awesome. Pompeii is a must see. Guides were great!
Long but worth it. Pompeii was a great way to see an actual Roman city and our guide was very good. The views from Sorrento were breathtaking.
Really loved Positano (Amalfi Coast) and Pompeii. The Tour guide shared quite a bit of information as we were traveling. The Van was comfortable
This was a great tour and worth the long drive time. Our guide Georgia was a lot of fun and filled the dead time very well.
The drive was amazing. Both the tour guide and the driver were very nice. I enjoyed their company. They stopped at many points for the pictures. The guide at Pompeii was also very knowledgeable and knew a lot about the city and answered every question. Positano is a beautiful city and well worth a visit
This was a good tour and we saw the sites we planned to, however in hindsight it was a bit too much to try to fit into one day. It took longer to drive all the way to the Amalfi Coast and Positano than we had thought. The Pompeii tour was a bit rushed as we needed to still drive to the coast and then back to Rome by evening. Also the road down into the town of Positano was a bit of a white-knuckler on a small bus! Don't make this drive if you are prone to car sickness!
What made this excursion so fantastic were the guides. Our Pompeii guide, Iliana, and our Positano guide, Chiara, went above and beyond.to make sure we were comfortable and informed. Massimo, the driver, was charming and a master of the road
Pompeii was great — we had a great tour guide (Hilaria) who was extremely knowledgeable about the ruins and showed us the high points. Wished we could have had more time at Positano — the scenery and the activity was spectacular. Andreas was a good tour guide in managing the entire trip. Very engaging and easy to interact with.
This was one of the best tours I have ever come across. Both sites were great and the views of the Amalfi Coast amazing! Dinner at Positano was outstanding and soooo delicious!
Our host (who I think was called Valesario) was excellent and so nice and friendly. . He was very knowledgeable and funny and made the trip fun. Pompeii is well worth a visit and our guide Hilary was very knowledgeable and lovely. Positano was very picturesque and beautiful but very small and extremely busy and overcrowded. It was a little bit chaotic and not somewhere I would choose to go to again.
We had such a wonderful time on our bus tour. Our tour guide, Federico, was amazing! We happened to be on the tour during this crazy heat wave, so the only thing that would have made the trip better was the lack of air conditioning on the bus. It seemed like everyone was struggling with the heat, but then to sit on a bus with 15+ people didn't help. On the way down about 90 min. in we stopped at a little shop that had things to buy and also sold breakfast type pastries and coffee, this is where you're encouraged to use the restroom since it's another 90 min. drive. The Amalfi Coast was just a quick 15 min. pull over on the side of the road to take pictures kind of thing. We got to spend 2 hours in Positano, which was just enough for us to walk down to the beach, eat lunch at a restaurant, and then hike back up to the bus. If you have trouble climbing stairs or hills, this would be a difficult place to get around. They drop you off in the middle of the hill, there is a few shops and cafes around, but if you want to go down the beach just know that it is a ways down and back up. Pompeii was around a 90 minute tour by another tour guide that's associated with Pompeii. We loved seeing everything, it was just difficult to enjoy in the heat. On our way back up to Rome we stopped again at that same shop. We got back around 8:30pm. It definitely makes for a long day, but it was SO worth it. Federico was a great tour guide, he made the trip very personable and spent the time to get to know us. Having a small-group tour helped to get to talk to him too. On the bus ride back to Rome, he met with each group and gave us restaurant places that he loves that were in the area we were staying at, and he even made us reservations so we could get the best spaghetti carbonara in Rome, and his suggestion didn't disappoint, it was so good! Would definitely recommend taking this tour!
The tour guides were very knowledgeable. It was certainly a long full day affair. We particularly appreciate our guide Georgia for being patient and helpful. She made sure everyone was comfortable down to the A/C in the van. Time spent in Positano was definitely not enough due to time and travel constraints. Overall a great tour. Thanks Georgia! You guys don’t pay her enough for what she does! Thanks for taking care of Mamacita. Regards from the Philippines!
This was for sure a long day but a great way to see areas I otherwise would not have had time to visit. Valerio was our tour guide and he was great as was our guide in Pompeii (Paulo). They were both very entertaining and informative. Definitely recommend the tour
If you have time to take a day an explore outside of Rome, this excursion is definitely worth it! Our guide, Chiara, was absolutely delightful! She was insightful about everything throughout the day and provided great humor during the long bus trip to the Amalfi Coast. The downside is the ride is a bit over two hours to get there, but once you get there - oh wow! It is so beautiful! Positano is a little seaside town positioned off the cliffs from the Bay of Naples. Full disclosure - to arrive in this idyllic town, you must go up and down a two lane mountain road along the coast (cliffs) called the Amalfi Coast. If you have ever driven along California's 17 mile drive, you have a taste of not only the beautiful scenery but also the heights, so be forewarned if that is not your cup of tea! Sit on the inside of the bus! Once we arrived it was magical - the beach, the little shops, the delicious food - we wanted to just sit and take in the ambiance. Make sure to visit the shops and get sandals fitted to your foot, a cool bonus in Positano! Also, the mozzarella is to die for, and if you like eggplant, the parmigiana is delicious. Once we left there, it was onto Pompeii, which is definitely worth seeing. Our guide, Hilaria, gave us a wonderful tour of the ruined town, including great insight (she is an actual archeologist at the site) and great stories about how the ancient Romans lived. Definitely wear comfortable shoes - while it's not hilly, the ground is quite uneven so you have to be careful walking. The day was perfect, and was probably the best day of our 10 day trip to Italy!
Great time! Positano is beautiful, tour driver was excellent in navigating the tiny roads. Pompeii tour was great very informative. The tour guides were great!!!!!! Wonderful experience not to be missed
I spent a few weeks in Europe and this was absolutely my favorite tour. The tour guide, Pavel, was knowledgeable, hysterical, helpful, and simply brilliant in all ways. He was happy to answer questions, discuss a multitude of topics, and was truly a character. We had a rainy day, but Pompeii was still amazing...it's a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see this wonder of the ancient world, feel the divots in the road, read the graffiti preserved on the walls for gladiators, imagine a bakery, a restaurant, a dining room, a bedroom...and see the preserved remains of the town's inhabitants. Positano, though wet and torrential raining during our visit, was still a beautiful town, worth visiting and enjoying a fresh seafood meal overlooking the beach. At each turn on the road, Pavel would tell a story or point out a landmark, adding historical or mythological context, or simply explain the traditions of the olive harvests and the people of the towns. On the way there and back, we stopped at a coffee shop/store that offered a quick espresso and tastings of local favorites. Pavel provided us with a list of suggestions in Rome, many of which I tried the next few days. This is a great tour for any history buff and a great way to see an ancient treasure and one of the top resort towns in the world.
The tour would have been very good If there were a few short stops on the Amalfi Coast drive. We couldn't take any decent photos on the drive as our guide said stops are not in the itinerary. It was not that there were no safe stops and not enough time. Plenty of cars, even lorries were seen stopping at view points for photos. This tour is not suitable for seeing Amalfi Coast and Positano. We should have taken the Pompeii and Vesuvius Tour from Rome instead and do Amalfi Coast, Positano and Sorrento in another tour. Visit to Pompeii and the guide were very good,
Our stops in Positano and Pompeii were wonderful. We had a great meal at Chez Black and enjoyed the shopping before heading to Pompeii. The local guide was wonderful but Federico was even better. We enjoyed all his stories and information. The short breaks on the way down and back were welcomed as it is a long bus ride. All in all a great day.
Pompeii - Totally worth it. Our guide in Pompeii Brunella was superb! Positano - Very beautiful. But...if you have more time, do Cinque terre instead. We did both Positano and Cinque Terre and found Cinque Terre more fun. Again you cant go wrong with either of them. This tour is somewhat expensive...so I am giving it four star.
Adrienne and our tour guide in Pompeii (I believe her name was Giovanna) were both very knowledgeable and provided great information about three cities. Adrienne also provided other locations of interest in Rome. I would highly recommend both!
The tour is well organized at 15-people. You need a tour guide to go through Pompeii and avoid the bigger crowds and it allows you to hear some unique stories. The Amalfi Coast was incredible and the best part of the journey. Pack snacks and plan for a long day (13-14 hours, 5+ spent driving)
We are so happy that we booked this tour! Our tour guide Melissa was outstanding. Palo was our guide during the ruins of Pompeii and he was also very knowledgeable of the history of Pompeii. He gave us a great tour around the ruins, making sure we saw the best sights. We loved visiting Positano and the drive down the Amalfi Coast. It is a crazy drive so we were happy to be on a tour rather than driving ourselves. Thank you for a wonderful day!!
My partner and I were happy that we booked this tour. The part where we visited Positano town was great and we were given enough time to roam around ourselves
Pompeii was amazing and I am 100% happy with that. Pavel, our guide, was great and lots of fun. The guide in Pompeii was very knowledgeable. The only reason that I did not give 5 stars was that the steps in Positano nearly killed me. If I had known there was no way up except climbing, I (at 72) probably would not have gone down them to eat lunch. On the plus side, I definitely worked off my lunch calories!
It was a little on the expensive side, but it was totally worth it to be able to knock out in one day two things we wanted to do on our trip to Rome (Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast). Our guides and driver were amazing - very knowledgeable and seemed to care about what they were talking about. Thanks for a great trip!
Federico our guide was fantastic, giving background knowledge with enthusiasm. He also was very helpful with restaurant and shopping recommendations. We had great weather. Sorrento and Pompeii were a real treat.
Georgia is amazing! I was so impressed with her overall knowledge and passion to guide people through her home country. I hope to do more tours with her and Patrick (our driver). Caroline, Papa, Hungary
Pompeii is just amazing. I had no idea it was so big. Our guides Georgia and Francisco were wonderful. I would highly recommend this trip. We went toSorento instead of Positano since it was the “low” season. Sorento is a charming town . We had a great lunch.
The was a great trip (all day). We had a great guide named Adrienne and our local guide, Brunela, was equally as amazing. Pompeii was incredible and Sorrento was very nice too. Very sad we didn’t get to see Positano (too rainy and a ghost town this time of year). Didn’t care for the reststop we made there and back....same place both times. Would have nice to have a different location.
