Visit: Casa del Alabado, Cuenca N 1-41 Bolivar, Near Plaza San Francisco, Quito 170150 Ecuador
This private museum is the result of the dream and the vision of two art collectors and entrepreneurs who join forces to contribute to the cultural development of the country. Unlike other museums that exhibit archaeological objects through chronologies or cultures, the Museum organizes its narrative according to the three worlds or three levels of the indigenous worldview: the world below, the middle world or the underworld and the world above. or supramundo. The diaphanous and innovative museography seeks to inspire in each visitor multiple readings and visual and cultural connections. Do not miss visiting the amulets room that gathers the smallest pieces of the collection and also admiring the vertical garden, backdrop of the main hall of the Museum that exhibits a very select sample of the technical, symbolic and iconography capacity of the artisans who populated ancient Ecuador.
Adobe, stone and wood are the basic components of the cozy two-story house, three patios and colorful corridors. The main courtyard in the Ecuadorian colonial tradition was the key element in the spatial organization and dynamising of the domestic environment. The second patio is sheltered by a myrtle tree, and in the third patio there lives a centenary and generous fig tree that invites meditation.
The Museum also has a restaurant called Bigoté. It is an organic restaurant where you can enjoy healthy meals made with locally grown organic ingredients, natural Guayusa and Ginger beverages, fruital smoothies, herbal infusions and desserts. Our fresh ingredients will give your body the energy and vitality it needs. ¡Visit us and feel an explosion of flavors in your mouth!
