Capri is magnificent and this is a good way to see it as the logistics are handled well. The tour started off on the wrong foot as the indicated location to meet ("Hotel Il Faro") was not actually where the guide was waiting (he was down at the port), then he was annoyed because he had to come get us. Our guide was good in that he got us out quickly and to the Blue Grotto early, avoiding the massive wait that was already building when we left, but didn't offer much in the way of narration otherwise. Also, we had one very talkative couple who spoke a different language; the guide spent a lot of time chatting with them and also did not ask them to be quiet as they conversed loudly in Spanish during whatever English narration he offered. Most of the tour was free time so the value was only in the transportation, which was much easier than doing it ourselves.
Tour guides did not know what group they were assigned to take . Spent 1and half hours muddling on pier in 90 degree heat trying to find tour guide . Tour guide that was eventually found said they would extend tour by an hour but this iput ius out in the hottest part of the day.Second major issue dealt with lack of information regarding getting to the blue grotto. This included 70 steep steps down to a row boat which only took 2 or3 people at a time. Also no mention was made of the extreme confines of grotto. If you would be claustrophobic which several were Would not enter grotto. Lastly we waited over 2 hours on steps which eliminated the chance for some that wanted to go. Time that we had for lunch was only20 minutes denying us the opportunity for further sightseeing or shopping because we had to leave. I would never recommend this tour to anyonr.
Our guide Paulo was sensational. He would give us suggestions for each stop, and would tailor our visit accordingly. He was valuable in helping get the most out of our time: how to beat the crowds off the ferry, special paths, driving to the blue grotto rather than going by boat, etc. Fully enjoyed this trip.
Georgio was a fantastic tour guide. Unfortunately the weather did not permit the tour of the Blue Grotto so he arranged for us to take a boat tour around the entire island that was even more than we could ask for. We were limited with time and he made sure we experienced all the sites in great detail.
Capri and Anacapri are of course splendid, and even though Blue Grotto was closed, there’s so much more to see from the boat ride around the island and on the island, such fantastic views and picture moments, and the tour guide really hustled to help us minimize lines and maximize the value of our time and also had interesting info to tell us. While it’s possible to put the boat trips, etc. together on your own and save money, I think it’s worth the extra doing it as a package with the guide.
This tour is not worth the price paid for. The so-called Port Pick up/drop off is basically figuring out your own way to the ticketing office for the ferry to Capri island and then arrange your own transport back to the cruise ship after the tour. For my experience, we had to walk 20min from our ship to the meeting point in hot summer heat. All the guide did for us was purchasing ferry tickets for the entire tour group while we waited by the ticketing office. We could've done this ourselves. Also the stated shared transport and minibus are literally the island's public transportation available for anyone to hop on/off for 2 Euros each person. Our tour group was on the bus with other tourists in the area. In retrospect, I could've saved lots of money for my family by just utilizing the well established public transportation on the island and set my own itinerary rather than join the tour. The tour added no value, there was no advantage at any of the queue lines (still had to wait in line with everybody else for the ferry, chair lift, blue grotto boat, funicular ride), and there's a lot of waiting around for other people in the group as well. There's guarantee to get you back to the cruise on time alright, because they'll just cut the itinerary short and leave the island early to get you back. So save yourself money and skip the tour.
A complete load of rubish from the start. Two Ladies wandering about trying to catch the attention of people who booked with Viator. There was not enough information on the hazards of this fiasco of a trip.Nothing professional about the the guides who where waving a piece of paper with Viator scribbled on it. The Blue Grotto took all of 5 minuets in a small boat after standing for such a long time in the baking hot sun. I would not recommend this Tour, at least not with Viator.
The tour was wonderful and Marcella made it that way. She was very knowledgable about the history surrounding the beautiful island and planning our free time to get the most out of the tour. We were able to go to the Blue Grotto and took a different navigation than everyone else which was much more efficient - we were in and out of the Blue Grotto. Highly recommend.
I found this tour to be absolutely worth the price. It was a lovely tour of the island, amazing sights and we were able to get into the Blue Grotto. A once in a lifetime experience!
This is an absolutely fantastic trip. The whole day ran smoothly from start to finish, and lots of this was down to our guide, Paolo, who was absolutely fantastic. Meeting us at molo beverello, we boarded the boat to Capri, with Paolo giving us tips as to where to sit to get the best views of the coastline, and asking us to use the boat's toilets before meeting at the back of the boat 5 minutes before docking to be able to get on our tour straight away. We were taken to a minibus which departed straight away for the blue grotto, which we were fortunate enough to be able to enter, ( as it closed 30 minutes after our visit due to high seas!!) A mini bus then took us to Anacapri, where we got straight on a chair lift to the top of the island. The views from there were amazing, and we'll worth the extra €12 each. On our return Paolo met us and showed us the best places to go, and a good place to eat, leaving us to explore this beautiful town on our own, and asked us all to meet at the bus station at a set time for our return. As all 8 of us were wanting to take a boat ride round the island, Paolo organised it for us as we descended to Capri. He showed us the main square, and the "rodeo drive" of Capri, then took us down to the port via the funicular. Having rung ahead to the boat, it meant the boat was there waiting for us as we arrived. The boat ride was an extra €18 each, but we felt this was really good value. The boat trip took an hour, and the crew were fabulous, giving us lots of information about the grottos and various buildings on Capri as we saw them. We arrived back in Capri, leaving us with a little bit of time to see some of the island. Paolo gave us our return tickets for our boat ride back to Naples, making sure we were all ok before he left for Sorrento. We realize we were lucky to have been able to visit the blue grotto, as it's closed more than it's open, but having had the chance to do the boat trip as well, we can honestly say that you wouldn't be disappointed if the blue grotto wasn't possible, as the boat trip WAS amazing. Paolo was an absolutely lovely guide. Very funny and informative, for whom nothing was too much trouble, and made the whole day a very worthwhile and seemless experience, and for that we will be forever grateful.
Overall, this was one of my favorite tours that we did on our cruise! We were extremely fortunate that Mother Nature cooperated and the weather was perfect for us to do the Blue Grotto that day! What an incredible experience! Our tour guide was also a HUGE help with this process because he knew we had to hurry to get there before the lines got too long and he was right! For our tour group of 12, it took us less than an hour to wait, go into the cave, and meet back in the bus! Typical wait is at least 2-3 hours just in line if you aren’t there first thing in the morning! Then he took us to Anacapri which is actually his hometown and explained all of the different places we can go and do in the time we have! Never felt rushed for a second and he recommended places to eat and gave the restaurants heads up we were coming so we did not have to wait! Then we went to Capri itself which is a lot busier than Anacapri, but he essentially cut us lose for an hour or so and established easy meet up points. Finally he gave us our boat tickets and we were back to the Port of Naples, no problem! Highly recommend to everyone that wants to see the Blue Grotto/Capri!
Beautiful island Beautiful views Limoncello to die for The best place to buy it is where the guide took us, nowhere else in Italy tasted the same Unable to do Blue Grotto due to rough water but taken alone coast in boat. The boat was backed into 2 caves, one being the Green Grotto. I am not a lover of boats in the open sea but hubby said that the boat didn't have any scratches on it so not to worry. Went through the Tunnel of Love.
We stayed in Naples and took the tour to Capri! We thought it was going to be easier to hop on a ferry and go ourselves, but our tour guide made the trip more worth the value! We were able to get to a lot of the hot spots from listening to her guidance! Capri itself is a beautiful Island and a must see!
Great tour with Francesco! Highly recommend the Seggovia chair lift and the walk to the garden for great views. Fun fun day
This tour guide was very thorough and planned well. We went to different places while there was no rush and not hot and cut out the long lines. Well planned. Even though we could not go INSIDE the grotto due to waves and clearance issues of the grotto walls, we were given a tour of the entire coastline from the boat. The guide was knowledgeable and very informative. Medium size group and all the events were organized, walking, boat and bus. I recommend this tour company.
Fabulous, fabulous tour, weather was good so we were able to go into the blue grotto, but I have to say not for 10 minutes as advertised more like 5 minutes. Had the use of a mini bus which took us to allthe relevant points of interest, recommend the chair lift lovely experience Time enough for shopping and lunch, great day and a great tour guide.
Perfect amount of time boat ride around the Island was a great way to see interesting rock formations adn the landscape our tour guide Luigi was knowledgeable, engaging and a pleasant
We left from Sorrento's pier on 3/29 - spent an enjoyable day checking out both Capri and AntiCapri with a great tour guide. Since the Blue Grotto wasn't open that day took a boat tour around the island and saw all the other grottos, which was awesome. Great ending to our holiday in Italy!
Already in the end of March it felt crowded. However, our guide really managed to make the best of the situation. The relatively small size of our group (9 persons) was also a good thing. Weather did not permit visiting the Blue Grotto, but the alternate boat trip around the island was very nice. Amazing manoeuvres by the boat driver!
Luigi was fantastic! He was friendly, informative, energetic and fun to be around. We had beautiful weather. Despite the Blue Grotto being closed, we were able to take a tour around the island to see the White and Green Grottos. We’d recommend this as a fun day!
Although I would like to keep this a secret, as a passionate traveler, I want other travelers to know: This trip was amazing. We were not able to go under the Blue Grotto because of the ocean swells, but the guide took us around the island and that was much better. Anyone with the time to take this day trip should do it. Excellent guide and services.
Was a lovely tour - the guide was waiting for us right outside our ship and as we were all early, he fast-tracked us onto an earlier ferry - everything went smoothly, because of the huge line up of boats to get into the Blue Grotto, he had the bus take us to a different location close to the caves so we just had to walk down a few steps to the mouth of the caves and the row boats came to us and we got right in. Had lots of time for eating, shopping and finishing the tour - even chose to go for a swim in the sea prior to catching the ferry back to our ship. Highly recommend the tour.
We had a lovely day in Capri. Brunella was our guide. She was fantastic and was very knowledgeable about the area and spoke perfect English. You could tell that she loves what she does. Every thing was perfect on our tour and the buses were right there and Brunella knew the best places to eat. She even made reservations at the restaurant. I wished we were able to go to the Blue Grotto, but the island tour was just as good, as we got to see quite a lot. (You can't change Mother Nature). I also found it to be a good value for the money, because all the ticket fees were included and you don't have to think of nothing, it is already done for you. I would highly recommend this tour. Thanks Brunella for being happy and smiling.
This is a pretty basic tour, nothing over the top. We got our boat tickets taken care of, buses were arranged to take us around the island, and the tour guide, Brunella, was very nice, but the lunch spot she took us to was not that great, it was overpriced and not that good tasting. She took us to a shop to taste limoncello but it was meant to get us to buy things, which both my brother and I did.
Brunella was terrific. She was able to get us everywhere we needed to be with no wait lines. She surely knows what she is doing. Everything was timed perfectly. The Blue Grotto was something we will always remember. Ana Capri has amazing views. We even had enough time to take the cruise around Capri. We would highly recommend having her as your tour guide.
