Opportunity to be shuffled to sites for coffee and buying souvenirs. Not much substance. One cannot help when weather prevents a good view.
I booked this trip with my dad and it was awesome. Thanks to Elisabeth for good hosting. Eagles Nest is so magical place.
We were two couples and a single person (all family) travelling on this tour which took place on the 2nd September. Our mobile weather forecast predicted 90% chance of rain but we went to check on the day at the pick-up point to see if the tour was going to take place. To our surprise, the tour guide, PETER informed us that the tour is on and TV weather forecast predicted that at some time there were going to be some chance of better weather. On our arrival the weather was worse with no visibility . Unfortunately, the least the tour guide could have done since he did not cancel the trip to take us to Berchtesgaden Centre earlier instead of us sitting in the restaurant for hours marking time. At 3.30pm we boarded the bus to Berchtesgaden Centre which was a few minutes away from the restaurant. We then were given only 45 minutes to go round the town centre!!! What a wasted day!! The least he could have done was to take us earlier to town Centre so that we have ample time to go round and not just sitting down in a restaurant just to keep to his schedule with no respect to the travelers. We were very disappointed with the management of this tour and the way this tour ws handled. THIS TOUR SHOULD NOT HAVE TAKEN PLACE AT ALL. We expect that Viator take matter in their hands and REFUND all the persons who were on this tour as it was futile tour. We as travellers expect that if weather conditions were predicated not to be favorable the tour should not have taken place. IT WAS JUST WASTE OF MONEY........................
Check recheck weather. Can be problematic. Dress accordingly. Do recon of pick up point. Train Station aka Hauptbanhof is huge area. Otherwise nice tour and guide.
Aggressive rude guide, no Salt Mine even though horrible fog. Horrible waste of a day. Very uncomfortable.
The tour was great. The tour guide. Ursula was excellent. I highly recommend this tour. We learned so much.
This was an excellent tour. Our guide Elizabeth was very knowledgeable and explained the history of the Berchtesgaden area and in particular Obersalzberg and the Kehlstien House. We spent a couple of hours at Obersalzberg, plenty of time to visit the Documentaion Centre, the WW2 bunker system and have some lunch. Unfortunately, weather conditions did not permit a visit to the Kehlstein House, which was disappointing but the alternate venue, the Salt Mines, was fascinating, great fun and is really worth a visit in their own right. Thanks Elizabeth!
An excellent day at eagles nest . Ursula, our guide, was great. Very well informed and funny made it a really unforgettable day out. Would thoroughly recommend.
Our guide Katerina was beyond excellent. She made the ride so enjoyable and she filled most of the ride with facts /history on Germany specific areas we were passing. She had the entire tour ticking like a clock, very precise. While at the Eagles Nest she even volunteered to take us to a few additional sites at the base of the Nest. She was WONDERFUL
The drive there was amazing. The view from Eagle's Nest was beautiful. Limited area you actually get to see of Hitler's area. Worth a visit though!
Tour guide Elisabeth is amazing and very enthusiastic!! She gave us lots of amazing information throughout the entire tour!
Our guide, Ursula, was well informed and provided lots of information about the trip. Instructions for meeting times and places were clear. We appreciated drinks available on the bus.
The drive was beautiful. The twenty euro per per person additional cost to go up to the Eagle's Nest was pricy for what you got to see, but a great view. Too much time spent at the first little stop, with limited things to see and do. Not enough time allowed at Berchtesgasden. It was the highlight of the trip, but we we only had about 45 minutes there to for a really nice village.
This tour was absolutely magnificent! Ursula was on of the most knowledgeable and impressive tour guides weve ever had. She provided us with a running commentary both to and from Berchtesgaden, which felt as if we were given a bonus driving tour of Munich and the beautiful German countryside! When we arrived at the Eagles Nest, the weather wasnt great. But, we are convinced her positive energy forced the clouds to part so we could have periods of beautiful views. Ursula did go abound and beyond when she brought us on a short hike through the woods to see the remains of the Residence Farm House. There, she delivered a heartfelt presentation not the impact of the war to Germany. We understand this topic is a very sensitive one to German, but we were particularly impressed with her ability to give perspective in such a heartfelt and genuine way. To top off a truly remarkable day, she recommended we visited a nearby Augustine Biergarten - the oldest in Munich. This ended up being one of our favorite experiences! Such a great recommendation. Overall, this tour was well timed, well excecuted, and SUPERBLY guided by Ursula. Highly recommend his experience for anyone visiting Munich. Also, I cant remember the bus drivers name - but he deserves some recognition - The roads leading up to Berchestgarden were very windy, steep, and scary. I would never attempt this drive by myself, but he made it look easy!
