Pros: Transportation to/from resort was in a private car and a nice surprise. The tour guide was professional and informative. The welcome beverage provided at the distillery was very good. The rum tasting and pairings was also very nice. Cons: Roads in Jamaica are bad so the ride to the distillery was rough. Once at the distillery, we had to wait a while for other people to arrive before the tour would start. According to booking on Viator, the tour included lunch; however, at the end of the tour, we were told that lunch is available for purchase only (I guess there really is no such thing as a free lunch). No one had any idea what we were talking about when we asked about the lunch that we were told was included in the price of the tour. The bottle of rum that came with the tour was a very small bottle (50mL) and not the normal sized bottle expected. Overall: A good experience and worth doing once if you will be in Jamaica for several days. If given the option to attend the Rum Tour again, although a pleasant experience, I would pass on the rum tour and spend that valuable time at the resort.
The Appleton Estate Rum Tour was awesome. The tour guides onsite really take you through each phase of making rum, with alot of interaction. I learned alot of new things, and the museum is quite nice. For this package, keep in mind that the drive from Montego Bay is about 2 hours each way, which I didn't think about in advance, but luckily -- our tour driver Ron was AMAZING. Very nice and conversational and made our ride delightful. He even stopped so we could get for lunch.
