Discover the most famous sites of Luxor's West and East Banks with a private Egyptologist guide. Learn about Egypt's ancient history and explore the Valley of the Kings and Karnak Temple.
To avoid the afternoon desert heat, your guide will pick you up early in the morning for the drive across the Nile River. At the West Bank, explore the necropolis of the ancient city of Thebes. After a brief stop at the visitors center, enter the elaborately decorated rooms. Although guides are not permitted inside, they will tell you what to look at. You can also visit the tomb of King Tutankhamen for a small additional cost, payable at the ticket office.
Leave the hot sands of the Valley of the Kings and go to the Temple of Hatshepsut, one of the most striking monuments in Egypt. Your guide will introduce you to the history of the temple and the extraordinary story of Queen Hatshepsut, the famous female ruler of Egypt who posed as a male to gain access to the throne.
Return to Luxor, with a brief photo stop at the Colossi of Memnon, marking the site of the funerary temple of Amenhotep III. Then, visit an alabaster factory and purchase some genuine souvenir items.
Cross the mighty Nile River to the East Bank and visit the Temple of Karnak. Built over 2,000 years ago, the complex of decaying temple was dedicated to the Theben triad of Amun, Mut, and Khonsu, the last the ancient Egyptian god of the moon whose name translates as “traveler."

The attraction itself is amazing. We would have been happier if we wouldn’t have had to pay extra costs to have our guide explain things that were suppose to be in our tour.
This is an impressive site. It's arguably my favorite site in Luxor El Karnak Temple was awesome too - this temple is right by this beautiful mountain and it is loaded with ancient history. The drawings on the walls are still vivid and in some spots the colors are still vibrant. Our tour guide Ramadan spelling? was very knowledgeable and guided us through step by step, definitely recommend and would hire his guiding services again!
