This is a wonderful one day experience to visit Delphi and learn about mythology as well as see many ancient ruins dating back to the BC Era! Effie our guide was very interesting and knowledgeable regarding mythology and archeology. She made this interesting as well as entertaining! We also visited the Delphi museum... lunch is included if you wish but we chose lunch on our own for a more casual menu and enjoyed that... no problem finding a restaurant! Highly recommend this day tour!!!
Awesome tour guide and awesome tour. It was so interesting and I really enjoyed it.. a little extra time at the mesueum would have been good for future reference but it was still a wonderful day
The tour itself and the sites were amazing. The bus was clean, and the organization of the tour was great. The lunch, however, was not great (we've had almost better food every where else we've eaten in Greece!). The tour guide was not super friendly or engaging.
We took this trip knowing that there will be a long drive, but all that I can say that it was worthy. The bus was extremely comfortable, the coffee break on the road came on time, and the scenery was the best part of the road trip. It was a hot day at arrival to Delphi. The tour has a lot of walking and climbing, so it is important to know that not everybody can handle the hiking part, however the ruins have a wonderful story and history. We didn't take the lunch package thinking to avoid a probable boring Hotel lunch, se we were dropped in Delphi town and looked for one of the authentic restaurants and had the most delicious lunch we had in the whole of Greece. We were picked up later by the bus heading back to Athens. overall, it was a great trip and we had a wonderful day to remember. Definitely recommended.
Do yourself a favor and pay some kind of transportation to get to the site. There was barely time to see Delphi and then even less time at the museum, we were completely rushed. If you want quality at the sites, this tour is not for you
This trip involves a long bus ride to a spot that, though historically significant, seems little more so than we might have located in Athens ... with time left over. The guides (they switched off) both spoke in French and English, but the English part went from okay to hard-to-understand, aided not one bit by a less than excellent bus microphone and throngs of other simultaneous groups at the site when we arrived. Wouldn't recommend it, at least unless you have lots of extra time and it's off-season.
Absolutely amazing trip! Thanks to Averkios, our wonderful guide and Iorgos, the driver, we were able to discover Delphi, a hidden treasure in the heart of Greece. We very much enjoyed it and we recommend it to anyone interested in Greek history!
The day trip is wonderful. The bus was very comfortable and luxurious, The drive is very scenic and beautiful. We took the 'lunch option' for extra $20. The lunch was served in a restaurant in a high end hotel, so the food was wonderful, with multiple courses. However, you can get very good food in the town where the the bus stops for the lunch break for probably no more than $8-10. The Tavernas are wonderful and most have an amazing view of the beautiful mountains.
We planned a day trip excursion from Athens to Delphi and chose this tour since the cost of transport (it's about two hours from Athens) was included in the overall cost. Our guide was well- informed but my critique of this tour was the poor time management. The bus did not leave the departure location on time and we made a half hour stop on the way to Delphi so that by the time we reached the site we had very limited time due to the overall schedule of the day. We only were given a small amount of time to explore on our own (there's a magnificent stadium at the top of the site but we had to practically run up and down to see it) and then had to rush through the museum due to time constraints. Then at the end of the day, and I do not recall ever being informed of the arrangement, the bus dropped off the group at different sites throughout Athens, which was another delay in our evening plans for after the tour. Again, very informative and I learned more about Delphi than I otherwise would have but the poor logistical planning meant we were rushed through the enjoyable parts.
The trip interesting. The tour guide was good and the lunch that we paid extra for was good. Tecommend
We enjoyed our day trip to Delphi . It was a long drive but our tour guide on the day was excellent and gave an interesting and informative commentary on the drive as well as at the Delphi site and museum . Our driver was also fantastic , altogether an informative and enjoyable day with highly professional staff who know their stuff , thanks .
Guide was excellent. It was a long but wonderful day. The tour guide was excellent. I would suggest that young children under age of 5 should not be allowed on tour.
A very good trip all round - although it's a 6 hour round trip by coach it was good to see the suburbs of Athens and the countryside en route to Delphi. Our guide gave us plenty of background information during the journey to the site. The tour of the site was really good despite not being able to visit the stadium due to land fall in the copious winter rains. The museum was excellent. The lunch site was pleasant but the food very average - a welcome break nonetheless. Recommended tour - for those interested in the ancient world.
We enjoyed the tour of the ruins and the museum, and the lunch that followed. It was raining on the day that we went, so we were not able to see the stadium due to the path being closed. Our guide was very informative and friendly. I wish we would also have had an opportunity to see the Tholos.
Hotel pickup wasted a lot of time. 90 minutes. Six hours of travel for three hours of tour not counting hotel pick up. Guide was fluent in English but her acsent made it difficult to understand. Large group of 42. Would not recommend
The pick up was a bit late and we had to change to a different bus but the drive there was amazingly beautiful. The guide was really informative mixing history and myth. The actual site was stunning! It was really crowded though and I think that annoyed the tour guide. The museum was ok though. FYI don’t book with lunch they’ll drop you off at the town of Delphi where my friends and I found a really good souvlaki place that was a really decent price.
Enjoyed the tour, very informative and friendly tour guide. It was a large group, so there was some waiting around for people. We opted for the lunch at the Hotel Amalia - very nice Greek salad and vegetable sides, chicken was okay. All in all a very nice day! Would definitely recommend.
Loved the guide and the tour. The car even had free wifi!
This was a wonderful tour, or give was very educated on Greek history, but never made it boring. The bus ride was great, and comfortable. The time at Delphi was amazing, had plenty of time to see everything. Would highly recommend this tour.
