Dan Porges is very knowledgeable and we learnt so much! The historical facts were interesting. We enjoyed the verses from the Bible.
The trip was fine. It covered everything what was listed. Personally I would have spent more time here and there, but i understand the timeframe. I did not give a 5 star due to the tour guide. She could add so much more to the trip. She didn't use the time well what we spent on the bus and missed to put events into context. It would have been good it the website mention that if i want to take advantage of the optional baptism, the clothes what they give dor 25 dollar is transparent when its wet; so u must be prepared with clothes.
Very nice trip. We liked it. We recommend it to everybody. Our guide was helpful and explained well what we visited.
Tour guide, Dan, is poor in time management. We waited for the main bus led by him almost 1 hour to join up with other participants. The 1st stop is for shopping. Dan did not provide re-gathering time. After waiting outside the shop for 15 min. My wife asked him when the shopping would be finished. When walking to the 2nd stop, my daughter walked in front of Dan. However, Dan reacted that no one should walk ahead of him. At the 2nd stop, Dan seriously warned my wife and daughter that he did not need people to remind him the timing and no one should walk ahead of him. We feel like in a school. He totally did not offer customer services.
Let me start off this review by saying we are grateful for the opportunity to see the sites that we did... but if we were to go back to Israel we would not take this tour again or recommend it to a friend. For this reason I want to give as honest of a review as possible so others have as much information before registering for this tour. We were staying at an airbnb, so the company contacted me asking for an address, I received no response from them letting me know where they wanted to pick us up. I called the company the day before the tour to confirm a pick up location, the gentlemen gave me a hotel for us to walk to. When the tour guide arrived he seemed really frustrated that we were at that hotel because the bus couldn't make it down the street and very much acted like we had inconvenienced him because he had to walk 3 blocks to pick us up. The next step of the tour is driving to Tel Aviv to pick up other people/have some people change buses. This meant that even though we were picked up at 0600 we didn't get to the first church in Nazareth until 1000. The churches were amazing and we really enjoyed hearing about them... but the size of the group was over 30 people... which made it really hard to listen to the guide especially in areas where we were suppose to be quiet and he had to whisper. There were no headset or anything to make this easier. The size of the group also meant we were continuously "counting" to make sure we didn't lose anyone, which took a lot of time away from the sites. Our tour guide was not Christian, which I initially didn't think was important, the only issue came when comments like "the tradition is" or continually contradicting what the Christian faith believes. He told us he had a lot of respect for the Christian faith, which I appreciated, but we went on this tour as a way to see impactful areas of Jesus' life, and at times felt like because our tour guide wasn't a believer, he wasn't the best suited individual for leading this tour. Lastly, the tour advertises an optional baptism at the River Jordan.... this was a major reason why myself and others (as I found out in the tour) booked. What the company doesn't tell you is that a pastor is not provided at the baptismal site, and therefore it is a "bring your own pastor" If you want to be baptized. Our tour guide encouraged us to attach to a different pilgrimage group at the site, and if need be, lie to a pastor to be baptized quickly since there wasn't a lot of time.
I had a blessed time ..It was fascinating to walk in the footsteps of Jesus Christ and the guide Dan, made it even more enjoyable. Dan kept us interested and made us laugh during the journey to Nazareth! Everything was perfectly timed....The only recommendation I can make is : It's a shame the meal was not included..I paid $98 and I was expecting the meal to be part of this...maybe something you could improve in future.Thank YouAlice
Downfall: The tour bus picked us up 1 hour late and our time at each location was short and rushed. We did pack a lot in one day, though, and traffic is an issue in Nazareth. It was still a worthwhile trip to see the countryside where Jesus spent many of his days, to visit the Sea of Galilee, and touch the waters of the Jordan River. Know that the tour stops for lunch at a designated restaurant with a set menu that cost 80 shekels per person. A bit pricey but the Saint Peter fish, the native fish, was delicious. As an alternative, you could pack a lunch and eat a peaceful lunch outside along the Sea of Galilee.
Outstanding tour! Tour guide was excellent and very informative. Trip was comfortable and enjoyable!
Great tour with Dan Porges. Lots of history and he kept the group moving while not rushing us as there is a lot to see. Dress for lighty but appropriately for church visits and have good shoes and lots of water!
We departed from Jerusalem for this tour at 6am. We were pickup and then 2 hours later waited at a rest stop for 45 minutes to pick up additional guests from Tel Aviv. 2 hours later we arrived at Nazareth more than 4 hours in total. We only stayed about 45 minutes. We then drove by Tiberius because the driver said that we were late. We then stopped at another church.... it had great views but our tour guide did not allow an extra 5 minutes to get some pictures. Lunch did not come until 2pm 8 hours after pick up. The stop at baptismal sight was about 1 hour. It was not worth the 14 hours to see 1 hour of Nazareth, 1.5 hour lunch, 40 minutes at a church, and 1 our at baptismal sight.
