Half-Day Hue Bamboo Paper Artist Experience and Countryside Biking Tour

Expect pickup from your hotel by 8am. Don your helmet, hop aboard your bike, and pedal through town to Hue's historic The Citadel before you ride to Truc Chi Garden, a little over a mile (2 kilometers) away. You'll spend around four hours on the art class, where you have two choices: complete a piece of flat truc chi paper art or design a truc chi product, such as a passport holder or a lampshade.

You'll start with a reception, where you see the amazing range of art that can be produced using this textured bamboo paper, and enjoy tea, coffee, and Hue specialties as you listen to a presentation about the history of truc chi. Next, you'll learn how to create patterns, images, and the paper itself, before you capture photos and say goodbye. Please note: your artwork or design will be delivered to your hotel in the evening.

From here, you'll head to a local restaurant where you can enjoy an à la carte lunch of local dishes (own expense). Then cycle out of Hue and into the countryside. Soak up the atmosphere as the city shades into lush green rice-fields, cobwebbed with a network of canals and rivers, before you arrive at Thanh Thuy Chanh village, around 6 miles (10 kilometers) from the art studio.

Here you'll admire the Thanh Toan Bridge, with its tiled roof reflected in the waters of the Nhu Y river, visit the village's farming museum, and see local life in action, particularly at the bustling market. If you'd like, you can go rowing with villagers, and learn how to catch fish using nets, traps, and more (additional charge).

Finally, you'll bike back into the city and return your bikes, arriving back at your hotel around 4pm. You should receive your artwork by 9pm that evening.
