Exploring Thanh Toan Village & Cooking Hue Specialties

When you’ve got your energy up and kicking, hop on our mountain bikes and we’ll make our way to a family temple. Here we’ll take a deeper look at Vietnamese family beliefs and practices and get to know how family members have managed to hold on to these long-standing traditions.

On the way to Thanh Toan Village, take your chance to get some nice snapshots of the bustling morning local market, the green rice fields, majestic family temples as well as the daily life of local people crossing the zigzag path of the village.

We’ll arrive in Thanh Toan Tile roof Bridge – a truly unique ancient bridge in Vietnam – where the elderly and children are hanging out in the morning and afternoon for chatting and enjoying the breezing wind from the paddy fields. Next, visit Thanh Toan Museum where exhibits a wide variety of agricultural tools showing long-standing Vietnamese wet rice agriculture.

After a short walk, we’ll set sail on a small boat along Nhu Y River to enjoy spectacular sceneries and discover the way local people catch fish by using some old tools such as fishing trap and casting net.

Get back to our “Eco Home” where you can learn how farmers grow the vegetables such as morning glory, Malabar spinach, gourd, fiber melon, so on and experience some farming activities together with them. You can get your hands busy by doing farming works (which will be offered if the weather is fine).

Next, roll up your sleeves with our local chef in cooking class to learn the traditional ways of preparing and cooking Hue specialties (3 dishes). Enjoy your accomplishment, of course. Take your time to rest and talk more with our lovely guide.
