Small-Group Dim Sum Lunch in Hong Kong
Noted as one of the 'top 10' things to do in Hong Kong, Old Hong Kong style dim sum is not so much of a food tour, as it is trying a new experience. Often thought of as Chinese tapas, dim sum, are small dishes meant to be shared around the table and is the epitome of Hong Kong food.
It's about a 5 minute walk to the traditional dim sum parlour and it makes no concession to modernity or English speakers, so be prepared for pantomime. Fear not: your guide will be there every step of the way, making sure you know what you’re eating and that you have plenty of dim sum and tea.
Not only will you eat dim sum, but you'll learn how to look for your own seat and wash your own dishes. Learn what classic tea pairing is with dim sum and how to get food. Hear about the history, traditions, and culture of yum cha. The dim sum lunch is included. There is no set menu, but there are around 30 different dimsum varieties that we can choose from on any given day. Experience pouring tea from an old teapot (it’s a lot harder than you think) and enjoy bottomless Chinese tea to accompany your lunch. Tour will end at approximately 2pm. Your guide can walk you back to the Central MTR station or give you directions to the Sheung Wan MTR station.
