Hong Kong Layover Tour to Lantau Giant Buddha with Cable Car and Boat Ride

On arrival at Hong Kong International Airport, head to Tourist Services Counter, MTR Customer Service Centre, Level 5, Arrival Hall, and use your passport to get your Airport Express Train Ticket. The round trip airport express train ticket is valid for 30 days from date of issue.

The Airport Express Train departs every 10 minutes. Relax on the 24-minute journey into Hong Kong, and get off at Kowloon Station. Then, walk for two minutes to the W Hotel, where you can check in for your tour. Pickup from the hotel lobby for this tour happens at 9:15am. Your tour guide will show up, check if you are the person in his pickup list, and you'll board the comfortable coach.

Travel to Lantau Island, where you will board the Ngong Ping Cable Car, which connects Tung Chung and Ngong Ping. As you travel up to the Big Buddha (Tian Tan Buddha), enjoy panoramic views of the giant Buddha, North Lantau Country Park, the Hong Kong International Airport, and views of the South China Sea.

When you reach Big Buddha (Tian Tan Buddha), ascend the 268 steps to reach its base and explore the 3-floor museum beneath the statue. The museum includes a relic of Sakyamuni, The Hall of Remembrance, The Hall of Benevolent Merit, and The Hall of Universe.

Continue to the Po Lin Monastery, the most popular Buddhist temple in Hong Kong. After exploring the monastery and one of the world's largest outdoor Buddhas, sit down for a Chinese vegetarian lunch.

After lunch, take a boat trip to the Tai O fishing village, where houses on stilts provide a glimpse of what life was like in Hong Kong's past.

Your tour ends back at the W hotel at 6:30pm for your return express train to the airport.
