Nach der Abfahrt in Edinburgh geht es Richtung Süden über die schottische Grenze nach England. Der erste Halt ist Holy Island, eine wunderschöne Insel direkt an der Küste, die nur bei Ebbe erreichbar ist. Der Damm zur Insel führt in das ruhige Dorf Lindisfarne, wo Sie einen einzigartigen Blick auf Lindisfarne Castle haben. Verbringen Sie Zeit mit der Erkundung der Burg und der Priorei und nutzen Sie die Gelegenheit, den bekannten Met zu kosten (auf eigene Kosten), der von den auf der Insel lebenden Mönchen gebraut wird.

Anschließend kehren Sie zurück auf das Festland und zur Marktstadt Alnwick. Hier haben Sie die Möglichkeit, die Stadt zu erkunden und Alnwick Castle zu besuchen (auf eigene Kosten), bekannt als das „Windsor des Nordens“ und Stammsitz der Familie Percy. Die Burg hatte außerdem Auftritte in den Harry-Potter-Filmen und in der TV-Serie „Downton Abbey“. Sie können auch den Alnwick Garden besuchen, der für seinen wunderschönen großen kaskadierenden Brunnen und den Garten mit Giftpflanzen bekannt ist. Begeben Sie sich in das Zentrum der Stadt zum Mittagessen (auf eigene Kosten).

Danach treten Sie die Rückfahrt nach Edinburgh an und halten unterwegs am Flodden Field (sofern Zeit dafür ist), dem erhaltenen Schlachtfeld, wo die Engländer die Schotten 1513 besiegten, was den Tod von König James IV von Schottland zur Folge hatte. Danach kehren Sie nach Edinburgh zurück, wo dieser 9-stündige Ausflug endet.

David W. took us on an amazing tour to the Holy Island and Alnwick Castle! He was friendly, informative, lively, and funny. The Holy Island is a must see, we were very lucky to have a beautiful sunny day, and we could have stayed there all day! We then headed to Alnwick Castlet, David made sure we all got our tour group discount and then set us free to do what we liked. We went into the town to grab some lunch and walk around there for a bit, then back to the castle. The grounds are fantastic, we found so many different little paths that opened up to views of the castle. This tour is full of incredible history and magical scenery. We would highly recommend it and David W. as your guide.

We had a fantastic day tour through Timberbush Tours with our driver/guide Andrew T. Andrew took us to Holy Island and Alnwick Castle along with a stop at Hirsel Estate on the way back to Edinburgh. He was an excellent guide full of interesting facts along the way as well as humor and even provided some Borders music for us to listen to. The trip was well worth the money spent and we even got discounted tickets at Alnwick courtesy of Timberbush. It was well planned and there was plenty of time at all of the sites we stopped at. I would highly recommend Timberbush Tours and Andrew T to others, and would definitely book another tour through them in the future.

Great tour but I felt super rushed. Alnwick castle was amazing but sooo crowded it made it fairly difficult to move through. Wish we had been able to spend more time on Holy Island but is was so brief.

Great tour!! Tour guide Hamish provided a lot of interesting information all through the day... historical, anecdotal, political, biological, geological... so much I learned on that day : The guide was very enthusiast and cheered the day with a fun range of traditional and modern musics and songs. The holy Island was beautiful and the various stops at little villages was just delightfull! We also had some time to stop by the beach to enjoy the incredible sky by Bamburgh Castle. Alnwick Castle was interesting and I would recommend, however, I might suggest its visit more if you are travelling with kids. The herbalist in me may decide to go visit the gardens separate ticket, the schedule won't allow you to do both sould I be to go again. Very friendly staff otherwise, I would rebook other tours with them : Thank you for this lovely day!

We booked the trip to see Holy Island, which was amazing. We saw the ruins of the old abbey, which was destroyed by the Vikings. You can only access the island during low tide, but you can see where the tide comes in. Alnwick Castle was used in parts of Downton Abbey and they were giving lessons on how to ride a broom Harry Potter style, which was fun to watch. Beautiful scenery!
