We only had a day to explore the city and after reading other reviews opted for the bus tour. As a family of 5 we have different preferences but this trip.pleased everyone. Would do it again if we visit in the future. The guides are very knowledgable and humorous.
I don't know if I will ever do hop-on hop-off again. This is about the 3rd city I've tried them as it sounds like a great idea but in reality its pretty much a waste of time and money. No explanations and if they try the intercom system is useless. They basically drive you past places and you have to be smart enough to know if its someplace you want to explore.
The tour started off quite well but we stopped only minutes in and had to get off our bus to give it to a group of students whose bus had a flat tire. We were told another bus would pick us up in 2 minutes but of course this didn't happen we spent 15 minutes waiting on the side of the road with the others off our bus until it arrived.
No complaints; very organized. The guides were all very friendly and knowledgeable. The stops were very much on time
The tour was the perfect way to see the city, since I only had one full day. Because of the lighting parade the tour cut off short, but it gave me time to see everything.
We took the tour in the afternoon and we also did the nighttime tour. Both were great and I highly recommend them.
We loved the tour, its was very intresting and at the same time absolutely not boring, fun and easy, love it and highly recommend to everyone .
Other than the dolphin show, riding on the top of the Double Decker and seeing the city was my sons favorite part of Chicago! The buses were clean, the guides on the bus were super informative and it was a great perspective of the city, the pointed out so many cool things we wanted to stay an extra day just to check them out! The only challenges were the ground crew were not very knowledgeable about the route or where to go and the bus tour itself takes (I was told) 2.5 hours min to make a loop so we had to hop off and walk to other stops a few times to make scheduled plans on time, plan accordingly. Overall a great experience and will make sure to take a bus tour again!
Even though it says rain or shine it doesn't consider it also affects visibility and the open topped bus created a rain fall down the back stairs. Needless to say we chose not to go through with the tour.. The tour guide and driver were wonderful in helping but couldnt tell us if we could use our voucher another day. I called the number on my invoice which was not Viator but Chicago City Hop on Hop off and they told us we can use our voucher anytime. I was unable to find a number to call for Viator.
