Meet your private guide in the lobby of your Beijing hotel at 8:30am and transfer by air-conditioned car to Summer Palace. Construction of the Summer Palace commenced in 1750 as a park for members of the Royal Family to relax. Toward the end of the Qing Dynasty it became the main residence for the Royal Family members. A major reconstruction took place commencing in 1888 and it is rumored that the Empress Dowager Cixi took money that was to be used for rebuilding the Chinese navy and used it to rebuild the Summer Palace instead. Inside the vast parkland of the Summer Palace you can enjoy hills, lakes and thousands of man-made ancient structures in an area of almost 750 acres. One of the most popular parts of the Summer Palace is the Lake area that consists of Kunming Lake and Back Lake, with causeways, bridges, pavilions and the famous Marble Boat to be enjoyed.

Walking out of Summer Palace, you will be driven to Mutianyu Great Wall. After approximately 1.5 hours you will arrive at the foot of Mutianyu section of the Great Wall.
